 Meter Buffs
Meter Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Robotic applications buffing complex parts such as zinc door levers. Automatic machines with multiple heads buffing steel tiles, brass door hardware, aluminum and brass eyelet shells. Hand finishing boat hardware and other complex shapes.

Constructions:

Full disc buffs up to 1” face width. These buffs are concentrically sewn to hold the plies together and add firmness. The spacing between the rows will determine the exact stiffness.

Special fluted constructions such as flatfold, S622, S633, L-Ring,etc.

Bias cut material is pre-pleated prior to assembling into a clinch ring or stapled center. This gives the buff greater flexibility and improved conformability on irregular contours, such as brass plumbers hardware, resulting in improved cut. This type of construction also provides a uniform face and superior finish on flat work.

Cloth and sisal segment buffs. Segements of woven sisal wrapped in cloth and reinforced with sewing are secured around a stapled center. They can be concentrically sewn and dip treated to produce an aggressive but flexible buff that will follow contours and remove 240 grit belt lines in aluminum castings. Works especially well on steel and stainless steel parts.

The proper cloth is selected for each application depending on the job requirements. Cotton, polyester cotton, and sisal materials are available, individually or in combination.

Dip Treatments:
The meter buffs are offered in dip treated materials in addition to the standard untreated and mill treated materials. Both standard and specialty dip treatments are available which offer enhanced performance depending on the application requirements.  Bias Cloth Buffs (Closed Face)

Recommended Applications:
A general purpose buff for both hand and automatic buffing.Used for both cut and color buffing on aluminum, brass, steel and zinc.

Constructions:
These buffs are made from bias cut rolls which helps eliminate fraying. They have a random pleated appearance and a closed compact face which can be varied by altering the density.

Available in the following standard sizes:
Diameter: 8 - 24 inch
Center: 3, 5, 7, 9 inch

Special diameters and center sizes available.

Materials:
The proper cloth is selected for each application depending on the job requirements. Cotton, polyester cotton and mill treatments are available, individually or in combination.

Dip Treatments:
These buffs are offered in dip treated materials in addition to the standard untreated and mill treated materials. Both standard and specialty dip treatments are available which offer enhanced performance depending on the application requirements.

 Flatfold Buffs (Prepleated Cloth)
Flatfold Buffs (Prepleated Cloth)

Recommended Applications:

Designed for buffing narrow surfaces on aluminum, brass, steel and zinc. Runs firmer than the normal closed face construction providing fast cut with excellent color and life.

Not for mush buffing.

Constructions:
These buffs are made from prepleated bias cut rolls which helps eliminate fraying. They have a wide regular pleated appearance which provides the firm face. The depth of the pleat can be varied to increase or decrease the firmness.

Available in the following standard sizes:
Diameter: 8 - 24 inch
Center: 3, 5, 7, 9 inch

Special diameters and center sizes available.

Materials:
The proper cloth is selected for each application depending on the job application. Cotton, polyester cotton and mill treatments are available, individually or in combination.

Fluted Buffs (Prepleated Cloth)

Recommended Applications:
Designed for cut down and finishing operations where the buff is required to flex a great deal. Mush buffing on aluminum, brass,steel and zinc.

Construction:
These buffs are made from prepleated bias cut rolls which helps eliminate fraying. The material is prepleated to provide a cloth strip that is 2-1/2 to 3 times as long as the buff periphery. This permits the buff face to bend back and wrap around the sides of the part buffing the hard to reach surfaces.

Available in the following standard sizes:

Materials:
The proper cloth is selected for each application depending on the job requirements. Cotton, polycotton and mill treatments are available, individually or in combination.

Double Fluted Buffs (Prepleated Cloth)

Recommended Applications:
Designed for automatic machines buffing small, irregular shaped parts made of aluminum, brass, steel or zinc where a small amount of flex is needed to compensate as the parts rotate through the buff.

Construction:
These buffs are made from prepleated bias cut rolls which helps eliminate fraying. The material is prepleated to provide the amount of material equivalent to almost two buffs. This controls the amount of flex at the buff face.

Recommended Applications:
Designed for mush buffing and color buffing of aluminum,brass, steel and zinc on semi-automatic or automatic machines.

This specification helps eliminate streaking when no oscillation is possible.

Constructions:
These buffs are made from prepleated bias cut rolls which helps eliminate fraying. The material is prepleated to make up a softer buff that will reach into recessed contours.

Available in the following standard sizes:

 “L” Ring Buffs (Prepleated Cloth)
“L” Ring Buffs (Prepleated Cloth)

Recommended Applications:
Designed for mush buffing of aluminum, brass, steel and zinc where deep penetration into recessed areas is required. The “L” ring construction does a more efficient job on automatic machines that pull the part across the face of the buff. It is not recommended for hand buffing.

Constructions:
These buffs are made from prepleated bias cut rolls which helps eliminate fraying. The material is prepleated to make up a softer buff that is spirally wound with all pleats facing the same direction.

This provides a more efficient buffing action for deep penetration into recessed areas as the parts are pulled across the buff face.

Materials:

 Centerless Buffs
Centerless Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Cut down and finishing operations on smaller parts of aluminum,brass, steel and zinc. Used successfully for recessed and internal contours such as lighting reflectors and hollow ware.

Can be used on automatic and semiautomatic machines.

Constructions:

These buffs are made from bias cut rolls which helps eliminate fraying. They can be made in the standard closed face construction or in a prepleated construction to provide extra flexibility.

Available in the following standard sizes:
Diameter:6 - 10 inch
Center; 1-1/2, 1-3/4, 2 inch

Special diameters are available along with small flanged adaptors with the proper arbor hole to fit the lathe.

Materials:
The proper cloth is selected for each application depending on the job requirements. Cotton, polyester cotton and mill treatments are available, individually or in combination.

Dip Treatments:
These buffs are offered in dip treated materials in addition to the standard untreated and mill treated materials. Both standard and specialty dip treatments are available which offer enhanced performance depending on the application requirements.

 Open Face All Sisal Buffs
Open Face All Sisal Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Used where extra cutting action with some flexibility is required on hard aluminum and steel with limited application on brass and zinc. More aggressive than open face cloth and sisal.

Constructions:
These buffs are made from two bias cut rolls of sisal material sewed together which reduces fraying. They have a random pleated, open face appearance, which can be varied by altering the density.

Available in the following standard sizes and sewing:
Diameter: 8 - 22 inch
Center: 3, 5, 7, 9 inch
Sewing: 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 inch

Special diameters, center sizes and sewings available.

Materials:
Woven sisal material reinforced with the proper thread and sewing depending on the job application. Dip treatments are highly recommended.

Dip Treatments:
Both standard and specialty dip treatments are available which offer enhanced performance characteristics depending on the application requirements.

Recommended Applications:
Used where good cutting action and with moderate flexibility is required on hard aluminum and steel with limited application on brass and zinc. Not as aggressive as open face all sisal.

Construction:
These buffs are made from one roll of bias cut sisal sewed together with two rolls of bias cut cloth which helps eliminate fraying. They have a random pleated, open face appearance, which can be varied by altering the density.

Sewing: 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 inch

Materials:
Woven sisal in combination with cotton, polyester cotton or mill treated materials reinforced with the proper thread and sewing depending on the job application. Although there are some applications for untreated specifications, dip treatments are highly recommended.

Dip Treatments:

Recommended Applications:
Designed for cut down operations where more flexibility then a full disc sisal buff is required. Used primarily on hard aluminum and steel with limited application on brass and zinc. Not recommended for mush buffing operations.

Construction:
These buffs are made from bias cut rolls of sisal which helps reduce fraying. They have a flat compact face appearance which can be varied by altering the ply or density. The choice of spiral sewing and treatment will effect the flexibility and hardness.

These buffs are made from one roll of bias cut sisal folded and wrapped with bias cut cloth to form a unit strip. The unit strip is then sewed and cut to length. The number of units and/or type of treatment can vary the flexibility and hardness. Rows of sewing can also be added to reduce flexibility.

Available in the following standard sizes:

These buffs are made from strands of sisal wrapped with bias cut cloth to form a finger strip. The finger strip is then sewed and cut to length. The number of fingers and/or type of treatment can vary the flexibility and hardness. Rows of sewing can also be added to reduce flexibility.

Diameter: 8 - 24 inch

Material:

These buffs are made from rolls of bias cut material folded to form a unit strip. The unit strip is then sewed and cut to length. The number of units and/or type of treatment can vary the flexibility and hardness. Rows of sewing can be added to reduce flexibility.

A harder and less flexible construction used for cut buffing parts or components made from metals, hard rubber and plastics with flat or accessible surfaces.

Construction:
These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameter die cut from the proper material. The discs are then counted and turned to the desired ply. Sewing is added around the center at a diameter to allow the proper arbor hole to be cut. The type of sewing, either concentric rows or spiral, is determined by the required flexibility.
The buffs are raked for increased uniformity, balance, concentricity and a shorter break-in time.

Ply: to 80 ply max depending on material

Recommended Applications:
A very flexible construction used for color buffing of various parts or components made from metals, hard rubber and plastics. The packed construction allows the buff to run cooler therefore it can mush into complex shapes.

Construction:
These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameter die cut from the proper material. The discs are then packed and turned one buff diameter disc to small packing discs determined by the required flexibility i.e. 1 - 1 or 1 - 2 or 1 - 3 etc. Sewing is added around the center at a diameter to allow the proper arbor hole to be cut. The buffs are raked for increased uniformity,balance, concentricity and a shorter break-in time.

Recommended Applications:
A construction similar to full disc sewed buffs which are used by jewelry manufacturers, silversmiths and other industries requiring buffs of the smaller sizes.

Construction:
These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameter die cut from the proper material. The discs are then counted and turned to the desired ply. The number of rows of sewing is determined by the required flexibility. The buffs come with either a leather center shellaced or with a pin hole shellacked depending on the material. The buffs are raked for increased uniformity, balance, concentricity and a shorter break-in time.

Ply: 20-60 ply
Sewing: 1-4 rows

Recommended Applications:
A softer and more flexible construction than the Jewelers Buff, these buffs are used by the Dental Trade and other similar industries requiring buffs of smaller sizes.

These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameter die cut from the proper material. The discs are then counted and turned to the desired ply. The number of rows of sewing is standard depending on size. The buffs come standard with a pin hole shellaced center.
The buffs are raked for increased uniformity, balance, concentricity and a shorter break-in time.

Designed for cut down operations where very little flexibility is required. The cloth plies help to hold compound and reduce fraying. Used primarily on stainless steel or steel with a more limited application on hard aluminum, brass and zinc.

Not recommended for mush buffing operations.

Construction:
These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameter die cut from flat woven sisal cloth alternated with die cut cotton cloth. The discs are counted and turned to the desired ply as they are packed. Spiral sewing is added starting at a diameter to allow the proper arbor hole to be cut. The type of spiral sewing is determined by the required flexibility.

Diameter:2-20 inch
Ply: 4-9 ply sisal Cloth depending on packing
Sewing: spiral - 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 inch

Material:
Flat woven sisal material packed with cotton cloth reinforced with the proper thread and spiral sewing depending on the job application. The type and amount of cotton cloth as well as the spiral sewing can change the flexibility of the buff.

Dip treatments are highly recommended for most applications.

Pocket Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Designed for cut and/or color buffing of various parts or components made from various metals- steel, aluminum, brass or zinc, hard rubber or plastics. Used primarily for hand buffing where the buff needs to run cool and hold an excellent head of compound.

Construction:
These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameter die cut from the proper material. The discs are then double or triple folded and inserted around the diameter of the buff. Sewing is added around the center at a diameter to allow the proper hole size to be cut. The buffs are raked for increased uniformity, balance, concentricity and a shorter break-in time.

Diameter:6-14 inch

Polishing Wheels
Polishing Wheels

Recommended Applications:
Designed for polishing any flat or accessible surfaces on parts or components such as steel bumpers or steel tubing. Used primarily as a set-up wheel with glue and abrasive grain or as a contact wheel for abrasive belts.

Construction:
These wheels are made from full disc sewed buffs of the proper material and ply which have been turned, sewn and have had the proper arbor hole cut. The buffs sections are then glued together with canvas covers to form the required face width.

The wheels are now raked which evens the face and allows for shorter break-in time.

Goblet Buffs 
Goblet Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Designed for cut and color on the inside of mugs, goblets, cups and reflectors. Both the bottom and the sides can be polished. Best used with greaseless compound or glue and abrasive.

Construction:
These buffs are made up from full discs of the required diameter die cut from the proper material. The discs are then counted and turned to the desired ply. The bases are sewed with concentric sewing and then hand sewed with the top. The top is tufted in such a way that the sewing does not come in contact with the work being polished.
The buffs are now raked for increased uniformity and a shorter break-in time. The arbor hole is hardened with shellac.

Diameters: 2-6 inch

Cylinder And Taper Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Designed for cut and color operations on the inside surfaces of any hollow ware or tube where there is not a bottom to be polished. Can be used with greaseless compound, cut compound and color compound or glue and abrasives. Cylinder and taper buffs differ only in shape.

Construction:
These buffs are made up from full discs of the required diameter die cut from the proper material. The discs are then counted and turned to the desired ply. The sections are sewed with concentric
sewing and then hand sewed together. The taper is cut into the taper buff. The buffs are raked for increased uniformity and a shorter break-in time. The arbor hole is hardened with shellac.

Diameter: 2-6 inch
Special materials and diameters are available.

Razor Edge Buffs 
Razor Edge Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Designed for cut and color operations on hard to reach areas. Its tapered form and thin “razor edge” allows it to reach into narrow recesses on steel, aluminum, brass, zinc, gold and silver. Used extensively by the jewelry and dental industries.

Construction:
These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameters die cut from the proper material. The discs are then counted and turned to form a taper from the center to the periphery. Standard concentric sewing is added according to the diameter. A hardened leather center keeps the buff rigid on a taper set spindle.

Diameter:2-6 inch
Sewing: 1/4 or 3/8 inch

Midget Buffs

Recommended Applications:
Designed to reach into the small inside radius on automotive wheels, small diameter tubing and other small inside areas on steel, aluminum, brass, zinc, gold and silver.

Construction:
These buffs are made from full discs of a diameter, slightly larger then required, die cut from the proper material. The discs are then turned to reduce fraying. Standard concentric sewing is added according to the diameter. The buffs are then cut to the exact size, raked to increase uniformity and a shorter break-in time. The center hardened with shellac.

Diameter: 7/8, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2 & 2 inch Ply. 16 ply standard
Sewing: 1-4 rows concentric
